About Labradorite:

Labradorite gemstone is a plagioclase mineral. Labradorite is best known for its brilliant flashes of color called labradoressence.

It is named after where it was found in Labrador, a Canadian province on the Isle of Paul. Inuit once called labradorite a "firestone" and used it in powdered form to help heal ailments. According to Inuit legend, a warrior saw the northern lights trapped in the rocks and struck them with his spear to free some of the lights.
